To reduce the likelihood of serious injury or death:
- Always follow local codes.
- Do Not overtighten screws: 8 in lbs max.
- Always install securement and safety screws properly.
- Never let children play on or around this cover.
- Never leave open riser unattended while servicing.
- Always install lid according to manufacturer instructions.

Maintain Your Lid for Safety
- Inspect your lid after any yardwork or service performed in or around the area of the septic lid.
- At minimum, a certified service provider should inspect the septic lid for proper installation and use.
- If your lid is older than 10 years, it should be replaced with a new lid by a certified service provider.
- Lids showing any damage to structural features — including but not limited to: broken screw bosses, broken or missing pieces, or cracks — should be replaced with a new lid by a certified service provider.
- Any area with below ground septic lids be surrounded by fencing or other means of isolation to protect small children, pets or wildlife from the area.

Safety Lids
Safety lids are recommended for all risers. All current Tuf-Tite riser models feature a safety ledge that allows a safety lid to be properly installed. If your riser doesn’t have a safety ledge, replace it with a current version and install a safety lid.
